چکیده

‘Arrayana’ mandarin is one of the most cultivated citrus species in Colombia, but this fruit has a short postharvest life and sensitive to chilling injury (CI) during cold storage. Generating strategies that decrease CI can reduce quantitative qualitative losses postharvest. Brassinosteroids (BR) have been used as sustainable technology alleviate fruits improve quality. This study evaluated effect applying 24-epibrasinolide analogue (EBR), at doses 5 mg L−1; DI-31 analogue, 10 control, on main physical biochemical characteristics stored 4 °C for 40 days and, subsequently, 7 room temperature (shelf life). The application EBR analogues reduced appearance exocarp by reducing electrolyte leakage, maintaining membrane integrity, increasing antioxidant activity phenol content end storage shelf life. was especially pronounced with L−1 EBR. Similarly, BR maintained quality mandarins weight loss, respiratory intensity, chlorophyll degradation; β-carotene; titratable acidity soluble solids. Our research reports, first time, tolerance Arrayana using natural (EBR) spirostanic (DI-31) illustrates functionality

Differential Metabolic Rearrangements after Cold Storage Are Correlated with Chilling Injury Resistance of Peach Fruits

Reconfiguration of the metabolome is a key component involved in the acclimation to cold in plants; however, few studies have been devoted to the analysis of the overall metabolite changes after cold storage of fruits prior to consumption. Here, metabolite profiling of six peach varieties with differential susceptibility to develop mealiness, a chilling-injury (CI) symptom, was performed. Accor...

Combined Treatments Reduce Chilling Injury and Maintain Fruit Quality in Avocado Fruit during Cold Quarantine

Quarantine treatment enables export of avocado fruit (Persea americana) to parts of the world that enforce quarantine against fruit fly. The recommended cold-based quarantine treatment (storage at 1.1°C for 14 days) was studied with two commercial avocado cultivars 'Hass' and 'Ettinger' for 2 years. Chilling injuries (CIs) are prevalent in the avocado fruit after cold-quarantine treatment. Henc...

Effect of postharvest oxalic acid treatment on ethylene production, quality parameters, and antioxidant potential of peach fruit during cold storage.

The effects of postharvest oxalic acid (OA) treatment on ethylene production, fruit quality, bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity of peach fruit, were examined. Fruits were treated with oxalic acid immediately after harvest and stored at 1° C and 90% relative humidity for 28 days. The oxalic acid treated peach fruit exhibited significantly lower levels of ethylene production, pH, total ...

Effect of nitric oxide on biochemical and antioxidant properties of pomegranate fruit cv. Shishe-kab during cold storage

Pomegranate is a subtropical fruit that is widely consumed as fresh fruit and juice, however, its postharvest life is limited mainly due to storage disorders. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of nitric oxide (NO) on antioxidant activity and quality attributes of pomegranate fruit. The fruits were dipped for two minutes into different NO concentrations (0, 30, 100, 300 or 1000 µ...
